Window Weather
This project was inspired by the engulfing weather of Iceland and its over 150 native words for wind, particularly “Gluggavedour,” which translates to “Window Weather.” Created during a month-long stay on the island, these pieces came to life as I gathered found materials from the shores and hikes in the fjords. I transformed these discoveries, such as bones, fishing lines, rocks, and buoys, into a series of wind chimes, reflecting on the concept of ephemerality. Each object holds the potential to be destroyed by the very force that holds the reason behind its creation. Unable to bring the pieces back home, their fleeting nature deepened, as leaving the island meant leaving the chimes behind. As far as I know, they still hang at the research facility where I studied, continuously shaped by the wind and weather.
